Save and Fund Your Coffee Addiction with Starbucks Gold Card

starbucks gold cardRewards credit cards are usually a must-have for people who are looking for ways to fund their addiction, be it travel or shopping. For coffee junkies, rewards credit cards aren’t the only source of discounts and freebies. They can also reap rewards from loyalty cards issued by coffee shops and restaurant chains.

The Starbucks Gold card is especially sought-after by Starbucks-goers. It’s too in-demand, in fact, that NFL baller Chad Ochocinco laments his stolen Starbucks Gold card via Twitter. It took him several cups of coffee to drink and pieces of lemon loafs to eat just to get that card. “Like, I had $220 left on my Starbucks card. Not just any Starbucks card, but a gold Starbucks card,” he said in an interview with the Boston Herald.

To understand Ochocinco’s ire, let’s take a look at the benefits he’s getting from owning a Gold card from Starbucks.

Get 10% Off on Most Purchases in Participating Stores

Getting a Gold card costs $25, which will pay for itself in a year if you spend more than $250 at Starbucks. That’s because you earn 10% discount for most purchases. It’s the main benefit a Gold card can give you. If you’re a regular Starbucks-goer, it would only take a few weeks of visit to break even.

Free Drinks and Complimentary Wi-Fi

There are one-time freebies you can get each year, one when you purchase a Gold card in-store and another on your birthday. Your membership also comes with a free Wi-Fi access for up to 2 hours each day. This isn’t an exclusive advantage to Gold card members though. You can get the same thing with a free Starbucks stored value card.

A quick glance at the features and benefits tied up with a Starbucks Gold card and you’ll notice it’s meant for regulars who spend on four-dollar lattes more than once per week.
